Highcroft Drive Elementary School is an outstanding school, which opened in August 2004. It is a school full of motivated students, dedicated teachers and staff, and hard-working parent volunteers. Our students selected the Husky as our mascot. The traits of cooperation, perseverance and team work, common to the Husky, contributed to development of the strong sense of community present at Highcroft.

We are proud of our many achievements, including the commemorative tile wall that includes a self-portrait of all the students and staff who opened HDES. Our students and teachers are serious learners as evidenced by our test scores. In May 2005 99.2% of students passed the North Carolina End of Grade Tests in reading and math. Eighty-two percent of fourth grade students passed the Writing Test. In May 2006 92.8% of students passed the NC EOGs in reading and math, and in May 2007 94.9% of our students passed the test in reading and math.

In addition, our students have exceeded the state expectations by achieving high growth, defined as 110% academic growth beyond expectations.
